New Delhi: On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will open 'Aadi Mahotsav,' a massive national tribal celebration, as part of the ongoing campaign to publicise and celebrate India's indigenous peoples. According to the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), Modi has been instrumental in improving conditions for the country's indigenous peoples and giving them recognition for their role in the country's progress. The Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation Limited (TRIFED) operates annually under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs to host the Aadi Mahotsav, a festival honouring the spirit of tribal culture, crafts, gastronomy, trade, and traditional art. As stated in the announcement, it will take place in Delhi's Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium from February 16th to the 27th this year.
Over 200 vendors will display the culture and history of various indigenous groups from all over the country.
